BELSPEED

The Belux Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology

Started as BESPEED, the abbreviation for ” Belgian Society for PEdiatric Endocrinology and Diabetes”.

The increased collaboration with the colleagues from Luxemburg, made the association change towards BELSPEED: BELUX society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology.

BELSPEED vzw-asbl is a non-profit scientific organization (vzw) of paediatricians who specialize in hormone disorders in children. The association was created in 1983 from an advisory committee of the Ministry of Health and became an official non-profit organization in 1989.

The members of the society are pediatric endocrinologists from 8 university hospitals and several other hospitals in Belgium and Luxembourg. Since 1989, pediatric endocrinologists have met monthly to optimize patient care, critically evaluate diagnoses and treatments, provide peer review of scientific articles, maintain a scientific mindset, and develop protocols and multi-centric studies.
